The Venue

The Trillium is located in Sevierville, TN and features stunning mountain views and lush foliage that create the perfect wedding backdrop. This lovely bride wanted to keep the florals classic and utilize all white to let nature shine throughout the day.

The Florals

Flowers were not the primary focus of the wedding but understanding how to make an impact with limited pieces is what makes the difference and ties the design elements together. With an all white floral color scheme, playa blanca roses, ranunculus, delphinium, white stock, and lisianthus were the go to florals.

Opting for larger blooms with heavy coverage creates a full look without needing dozens of stems per arrangement. Greenery does much of the heavy lifting in the designs, and it is important to choose varieties with large leaves and strong architectural shapes such as Italian ruscus and Israeli ruscus. Layering different textures of greenery creates depth and sophistication while maintaining a natural look.

Maximize Natural Foliage

This venue already had a beautiful backdrop which was the focal point. Instead of spending money on a full arbor, this bride decided on 2 pieces that were placed on columns and then repurposed during the reception. This choice still framed the couple with flowers and did not overpower the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

Opt for a Front-Facing Design

For most wedding ceremonies, guests and photographers view the arbor primarily from one direction. Designing the piece as a front-facing installation instead of fully dimensional can dramatically reduce both material and labor costs. Concentrate all greenery and floral elements toward the ceremony-facing side of the structure. Leave the back cleaner and less detailed since it will rarely be photographed or viewed closely.

Designing a stunning wedding on a budget is less about cutting corners and more about designing strategically. A few simple choices can transform a modest budget into a wedding of luxurious florals.
