Recycling Leftover Flowers

Ever leave an event with extras? Have some roses that will be blown open in a couple days and can't sell? Don't have extra cooler space? This post if for you.

Being a part time event florist, I often order everything specifically for an event and pick it up from the wholesaler the day before the event. If I have extras, I don't have a brick and mortar shop to take them back to and repurpose.

Being conscious of waste, I thought of ways to recycle these extras while also brightening someone's day. Using recyclable butcher paper and making simple wrap bouquets is an easy and efficient way to prepare the blooms for donation.

To secure the wrap, I used a sticker with our logo and phone number in case anyone wanted to place an order in the future. There is never any pressure to and the primary goal is to give back to others with a small act of kindness.

In this scenario, I dropped them off to a local sorority for the girls to take home after chapter. Other options include taking them to a nursing home or giving them to local teachers.

With this method, you can't really go wrong and the beautiful blooms get enjoyed for a few more days.
