Spooky Fall Gender Reveal

This gender reveal was so much fun to plan!! The classic pink and blue balloons paired with the Halloween decor made the perfect backdrop for James and Alaina to figure out they were welcoming a sweet baby girl.

The trickiest part was figuring out to make the smoke pink that comes out of the cauldron. Below, I have outlined how we accomplished this!
Make sure you have a large enough cauldron to easily fit a mixing bowl inside. The mixing bowl will hold the dry ice and keep the liquid contained when it is poured in. We used a standard metal mixing bowl for this.
You will want to purchase and prepare the smoke bombs. Whoever the gender keeper is will need to inform you of what color smoke bombs to purchase. We purchased ours from Miracle View Ultrasound's TikTok Shop. You can use one smoke bomb at a time, but we purchased multiple to have the capability to re-create the moment for any additional photos the couple wanted.
Dry ice can be purchased from most local grocery stores. We purchased the Penguin Brand Dry Ice from Publix the day of the event and stored it in the freezer until it was time for the reveal. It is important that you handle this carefully and follow the manufacturers guidelines and instructions for usage.
When it is time for the reveal, heat up water, the hotter the better, to pour over the dry ice. This is what will create the smoking effect.
Make sure you have a chunk of dry ice in the bowl and placed inside the cauldron. Next, prepare the smoke bomb by setting it in an aluminum baking tin. This insures it does not touch the dry ice and water.
When the couple is ready, they will carefully pour the hot water over the dry ice. Then, the will light the smoke bomb and set it in the cauldron. This is a very quick process and should be handled with care.
This reveal was a definite crowd pleaser and is a unique way to celebrate. We love doing events like this and assisting in the excitement of bringing a little one into the world!
